As an undergraduate university student, I understand both how important and how stressful studies can be for children of all ages. I aim to create a supportive and positive learning environment for children and young people. My previous studies involve a wide range of subjects and qualifications, giving valuable insight into how to take the next steps in upper secondary school. It is important to me however, that I am available in both academic and personal capacities for young people who have concerns about not only their studies but also about workload, university and other potential routes into higher study or education. I have experience with both the Scottish and English school systems and curriculums as well as with children of both primary and secondary school age. Previously, I have been involved in both tutoring and mentorship roles with young people with a vast array of learning styles and paces. Additionally, I have assisted younger children and early secondary school students with their reading skills in order to help them gain confidence in their ability. Recently, I also partook in events aimed at adult learning, specifically mathematics for English as a second language and this really allowed me to see the importance of understanding the different learning styles of different people and helped me to understand how to explain the same problem in alternative terms to create an easier and less stressful environment. Overall, I hope to be able to aid students and young people in their subject studies as well as in an advisory capacity to help them deal with any school-based anxieties.
