I have previously tutored for primary school level and foundation GCSE maths. I will go through the sessions by highlighting the areas of struggle and spending time to consolidate and strengthen these areas. My main aim is to make the students feel more confident and secure regarding their upcoming exams and to help them achieve the highest grade achievable.
Oftentimes it is helpful just to have a person holding the student accountable for revision as it is easy to become unmotivated, I primarily want the student to finish their exams feeling proud of what they've achieved and to feel sure they did the best they could.
I am currently a student myself, studying in at Northumbria University. I feel having a tutor a similar age can help the tutoring to feel less daunting and less of a dread. I want all students to feel as comfortable as possible and I am willing to format the tutor sessions personalised to the student to specifically suit their needs.
I feel it is beneficial to do practice outside of the lessons and I will me more than happy to prepare questions for the student to complete throughout the week between sessions. Nearer the exam dates, a practice exam a week is the most beneficial as understanding the formats of exam papers is just as important as being able to answer the questions. I will go through these questions and exams and we can spend extra time on the specific elements of struggle .
