Hi there! I offer online English lessons for GCSE students in both Language and Literature, though am happy to help out with A-Level if needed.
My lessons can be very flexible and cater to your specific needs or 'weaknesses', or else simply to strengthen the skills you already have. Usually I adapt to the style of teaching which best works for the student, which has involved reading texts together and discussing them, going over exam techniques and essay structures, writing paragraphs together, analysing quotes and characters, even revision techniques!
I'm a friendly, understanding person, and can help you with homework, exam prep, spelling and grammar, or even just discussing and interpreting the texts you are studying at school. We can go over critical analysis, poetry, creative/non-fiction writing, novels, plays, etc. Just let me know the exam specifications and the list of texts beforehand!
I have had several students over the past three years, all of varying academic ability (including those with learning differences such as dyslexia), and each of them has had great success in not only passing their English exams but achieving above and beyond what they expected. I like to think that I helped to steer them towards this achievement, helping them to hone in on their confidence and skills. I've found that even with stronger students, having a teacher/tutor who is solely focused on what they need for their learning (as opposed to a whole classroom of students) helps to boost their confidence and therefore academic attainment.
