In brief:
I have 10 years teaching experience with students of all ages and levels.
I design the piano lessons according to the tastes and needs of the student.
I prepare for ABRSM and Trinity exams (grades 1 to 8+ diploma level).
Integral to my style of teaching is to promote the discovery of various musical styles. I teach classical music and modern music, such as jazz, pop, funk.
I usually give the student a practice plan and practice material/resources to work on during the week.
Through the years, my idea of what a piano lesson consists of has adapted and matured. I see it as a creative and didactic time that helps the student to play with their imagination in a practical activity; it helps the pupil to gain a better level of focus; it teaches that some sacrifice is needed to reach goals; it is modelled on the particular needs and artistic inclinations of the pupil; it stimulates the pupil’s own imagination and teaches how to apply it to a practical context – not only that of being able to read the scores and to build correct technique but also outside of music. I have an innate aptitude for working with children, partly thanks to my being empathetic and sensitive to the needs of my pupils.
I have always been described by people who know me very well as kind, generous and sunny, all of which are qualities that I have seen reassure and reinforce the student, allowing for a more comfortable learning environment. Also integral to my style of teaching is that I promote the discovery of various musical styles, stemming from my own eclectic artistic interests.
