I use a bit of a mix of techniques depending on the student. Mainly, I like to talk through the topic and then do some example questions together, to work on any potential problems together. I will then ask the student to have a go at a question, and depending on how they do, I could give them harder questions to try, or we could work through some more together if they're not confident on it. Other students prefer to do a lot of exam questions in the lessons and work through answers they get stuck on together. I do also use interactive powerpoints as these work better for some people. These will also begin with content, explain through how to answer the questions and then have the student attempt some questions by themselves. I usually set homework after lessons for consolidation of what we've learnt and to check for understanding.
