Being a well-educated and highly experienced teacher, I currently hold the role of a biology teacher in a secondary school. A significant part of my responsibilities involves guiding students through the intricate process of their UCAS applications. Along my academic journey, I achieved a PhD in molecular biology, complemented by an M.Sc. I specialize in the field of human genetics, with a focus on immunology. I also earned two B.Sc. degrees—one in genetics and the other in technician of medical laboratories (biomedical studies).
My engagement as an examiner, coursework moderator, and standards verifier for prominent exam boards, including the IB, equips me with the tools to provide my students with priceless insights for excelling in their examinations. I also have the advantage of understanding what moderators seek when assessing coursework. Another pivotal role I undertake is that of Chief Examiner of Science for my school's in-house Foundation University Program. This diverse range of experiences converges to enable me to provide students with a holistic perspective on education and assessment.
I have been teaching since 2006, accumulating many teaching experiences. Throughout my career, I have been privileged to instruct in various educational settings. These include mainstream secondary schools, esteemed grammar schools, private educational institutions, international schools, and even further education. My diverse teaching background has allowed me to interact with students from various walks of life and academic backgrounds, contributing to my comprehensive understanding of practical pedagogical approaches.
My teaching approach involves addressing any areas of confusion or misunderstanding that students might have. I explain concepts thoroughly, using different perspectives or examples if needed. After the explanation, I assess their understanding through various testing methods, such as questions or problems related to the topic. This evaluation helps me gauge how well they've grasped the material before we proceed with the lesson. This way, I ensure everyone is on the same page and ready to delve deeper into the subject matter.
