My lessons are mainly focused on practicing exam skills. This means trying lots of past questions, and the working through the answers with detailed, guided support. Paying attention to examiner reports and mark schemes is crucial for tackling exams. However, it is also just as important to make learning interesting and engaging in order for information to remain in the memory. For that reason, I make sure my lessons are interactive and accessible.
I also like to provide examples of how I would answer a question, using excellent English and concisely responding to the prompt. I encourage my pupils to put their skills to use by critiquing example answers, so that they learn what stands out to an examiner.
Aside from practical application of skills, I also provide engaging and accessible learning material in the form of PowerPoints and handout sheets to enable interactive learning. These are the methods that helped me to attain excellent grades in my GCSE, A Level and Preliminary examinations, so I would be thrilled to pass them onto a new pupil.
Above all, I believe in responding to the pupil and allowing them to guide their learning in the most productive manner. I will provide quizzes to test my pupils knowledge to find out which areas of learning to target.
I’m a warm, understanding person and my aim is to make learning fun and meaningful. I know how to set the standards in the lesson environment so that my pupils get the most out of their education. I will be patient and responsive during lessons to ensure that my students get effective one on one support.
