I’ve had a lot of experience tutoring students in secondary education using a range of methods, such as past papers, quizzes and true or false questions to make sure that my students are comfortable and confident with the subject matter. This ensures that the dynamic of our lessons means that it’ll be similar to a conversation, that way I can make the topic of English more engaging. I usually begin a lesson with a starter such as true or false quizzes or matching a character from a book with an emotion to get my students warmed up before tackling some more complex matters. I then introduce some themes for literature or poetry to get an understanding of which parts are challenging before exploring a past paper question. At the end of the lessons I tend to ask what students want to look at next week or if they have any homework that might need explaining.
