Hi there! I am currently a weekly in-person maths mentor for GCSE students. From this experience, I am gaining lots of valuable communication and teaching skills, specific to this age group.
My tutoring sessions would always start off with a 15 min recall/test of the main points of the topic we went over in the last session, followed by a runthrough of content for the current topic for the lesson/a requested topic from the student, followed by some exam questions on that topic and past topics to finish the lesson. This would all be tailored to be specific to your exam board.
Throughout the session, I will give tips and tricks on ways to remember certain difficult content, which also helped me at GCSE. I would use an interactive pre-prepared powerpoint if it is an online lesson, covering the content of that lesson. I would use printed out resources if it is an in-person lesson.
Moreover, I would set homework on a set of random past exam questions for you to answer before next lesson, so we have time to go through it together in the next lesson.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope I get the honor to guide you through your educational journey!
