I have worked as a Biology teacher at different levels from high school to the master’s level. At the senior high school level, I have trained students in “biology” towards their preparations for medical entrance exams. At the master’s level, I trained students to qualify for national fellowships exams to pursue Ph.D. programs in India. Also trained students for subjective GRE in “Biochemistry, Genetics, and Cell Biology” towards their preparations for International Ph.D. programs.
I tried to teach complex biological phenomena with simple analogies from our social behavior as all our social behaviors (attributes) are “mathematical functions” of biological activities of our bodies, organs, and cells. Similarly, the properties of cells are “mathematical functions” of the activities of biomolecules and so on. In that sense, most of our social phenomena are colinear reflections of phenomena at the organism/cellular level and can be used as an analogy to understand many biological phenomena in a simpler and easier fashion.
Besides, I try to teach biology more as a curiosity-driven learning effort rather than memorizing facts and information. However, when required, try to memorize things through flowcharts, mind maps, graphical and visual presentations, power-point presentations and animation/video, etc.
