My lessons will begin with exercises that do not focus solely on subjects but on exercises to warm up and focus the brain such as word or number games. This is due to the nature of the 11 plus exams as it tests students on they’re ability to recognise and solve problems.

I then divide the rest of my time into slots for either english, maths or non verbal and verbal reasoning that will alternate depending on the week and the amount of time I believe a child needs to spend on each subject based on what they struggle with.

For the english portion of my lessons I will focus on their reading skills and their comprehension skills by giving them exercises that test them on both abilities. My exercises also help them with time management and exam technique as I will aid them in how to approach questions.

For the maths portion I will provide them with number and word problems that’s tests different maths skills such as long division and long multiplication to ensure they are entirely comfortable with using methods such as those and also how the exam will be laid out and what the question expects from them.

For non verbal and verbal reasoning I will introduce them to what these questions entail and they will likely never have seen them before as it is not something that is taught in primary schools. These questions are designed to test there problem solving ability and so by going through tailored exercises it will build up there minds stamina when faced with these sorts of questions.
