In my experience, students fare well with discussion-based learning, inclusion of example paragraphs, teaching of buzzwords, information on how to structure, and also guidance from me on HOW exactly to analyse and approach a piece of writing. I'll complete writing tasks with students to guide them through the process. If necessary, I can teach study techniques, or provide resources for further reading or learning for students that want to aim high. Going through texts and breaking it down alongside the student is always beneficial and I emphasise that practise makes perfect; we can keep crunching the same or similar tasks until the student has it down just right.
