Imogen Lock

I am a First-Class graduate in German and Italian from the University of Bristol with over four years of experience helping students achieve success in GCSE and A-Level exams. My students have consistently surpassed their target grades, with some improving by two levels, and I have extensive experience with AQA, Edexcel, and Cambridge IGCSE exam boards.

Tutoring is my passion because it allows me to share my love of languages, literature, and learning while supporting students to grow in confidence. I strive to build a strong rapport with every student, creating a positive and relaxed environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and tackling challenges. By adapting my teaching style to suit different learning preferences, whether visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic, I ensure every lesson is effective and enjoyable.

A typical session starts with a fun warm-up activity to build confidence and engage interest—this could be a language game, a creative writing prompt, or a quick grammar challenge. We then work through tailored exercises or past papers, focusing on areas that need the most attention. For example, one student struggling with essay writing improved by learning how to break tasks into manageable steps, while another gained confidence in German through conversational practice and storytelling.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy music, singing, and exploring literature, all of which inspire my lessons. Together, we’ll not only achieve your academic goals but also make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience!
