I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher and head of department with a PGCE with QTS in English. I have experience of teaching IB, AQA, and Edexcel in GCSE and A-level English Language and Literature curriculum. I have enabled students to achieve 3-4 grades higher than their predicted grades. I specialise in helping students with exam stress and have extensive experience of academic success. I make learning enjoyable and memorable. I design tailor-made, personalised lessons for each of my students based on their needs, learning style and interests. My lessons involve quizzes, games, analysis of texts, writing tasks, and seminar style questioning. I understand that each learner has a unique learning style and therefore differentiate resources. I assist students to develop their vocabulary by exposing them to a wide range of challenging texts. I enable students to understand mark-schemes and exam requirements by providing them with exemplar answers and breaking down exam questions. I help students to develop study skills, structure their writing and bring clarity to their understanding of language and literature.

I have taught whole-classes, small groups and individuals in private residential, sixth-form college and state school settings. I have taught in person and online. Students and parents have both given me excellent feedback, reporting increases in both grades and subject engagement. I am patient, creative and highly capable of motivating students to excel academically and socially through the development of their speaking and listening skills. I also assist students to develop their creative writing skills, essay writing skills, grammar, and analysis of literary texts.
