Ian Mackay

I will work to support students in their current studies in Psychology, or to create a bespoke programme to meet their personal educational goals/needs.

I have degrees in Psychology (1st) and Contemporary Theatre (2.1) as well as a PgCert in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education (Distinction). In the last 20 years I have taught numerous young people and adults of all abilities, within community and educational settings, to achieve their goals.
I lectured for 5 years in Higher Education (HE) institutions as a part-time Researcher & Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and The University of Derby. On the applied theatre unit, I taught and supported undergraduate students in their studies as well as marking Formative and Summative Assessments. I have also taught intermittently in HE over the last 10 years as a: Guest Speaker, Guest Lecturer, Visiting Artist, Keynote Speaker, at universities such as Manchester Met, Staffordshire, and the University of York.

I enjoy working with inquisitive minds with a strong work ethic to achieve their individual educational goals in the discipline of psychology. Additional tutorage can give someone studying psychology that extra boost needed to develop a passion not only for the subject but for learning as they progress throughout their studies. With a fundamental understanding of the human mind within society, you can unlock the best ways to support others in several possible future professional settings, from therapy to effective management.
