Overview of My Lessons

As an experienced educator with 19 years in the field, I offer engaging and effective lessons in Sociology and Psychology tailored for secondary school and college students. My teaching approach is dynamic, interactive, and designed to foster critical thinking and academic success.

Personalised learning is the core of my tutoring. Each lesson is tailored to meet the individual needs of students. I assess their strengths and weaknesses to create a customised learning plan. Utilising various teaching methods, including one-on-one tutoring, group sessions, and e-learning platforms, ensuring flexibility and accessibility. My lessons are designed to be interactive, encouraging student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects. I also incorporate multimedia resources, such as videos, articles, and case studies, to make the content relatable and engaging.

As a marking examiner since 2004, I possess valuable insights that enable me to share best practices, ensuring my students are thoroughly prepared for their A-level exams. My lessons adhere to a structured curriculum aligned with national standards, guaranteeing comprehensive coverage of essential topics. I emphasise key concepts in Sociology and Psychology, facilitating students’ ability to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

In Sociology, I cover topics such as social structures, cultural norms, and the impact of social change, whilst in Psychology, I explore human behaviour, cognitive processes, and psychological theories, providing students with a well-rounded understanding of both subjects. I also encourage students to think critically by analysing case studies and engaging in discussions that challenge their perspectives.

Assignments often involve research projects that require students to apply their knowledge and develop analytical skills. Regular feedback is an integral part of my teaching. I provide constructive criticism on assignments and assessments to help students improve. I also use formative assessments to gauge understanding and adjust my teaching strategies accordingly.

I have taught students of all ages and abilities, from primary education to higher education, utilising various delivery methods.
My experience includes teaching roles from Primary schools to university degree level. I am committed to lifelong learning and have recently gained my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner qualification, reflecting my interest in integrating technology into education.
Teaching Style

I take a student centred approach, my teaching philosophy centres around the belief that students learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. My intention is always to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and asking questions. I am also flexible in my teaching methods, adapting to the diverse learning styles of my students. Whether they prefer visual aids, hands-on activities, or traditional lectures, I strive to accommodate their preferences.

I motivate students by celebrating their achievements, no matter how small, and encouraging them to set and pursue their academic goals.
My aim is to instil a love for learning and a sense of curiosity that extends beyond the classroom. In summary, my lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. With a strong foundation in Sociology and Psychology, coupled with extensive teaching experience, I am dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals and develop critical thinking skills that will serve them well in their future endeavors.
