I have been teaching English for nearly 40 years. My way of teaching is catering for students' needs. First of all, I will identify what goals students have in learning English, whether they want to communicate in the language or to pass an international examination, whatever. Then, I might administer a pre-test to figure out what level students have acquired, their strengths and weaknesses, etc. I will discuss the test results with students, how we are going to address the issues, and the timeline to achieve the goals. Based on this, I will build up a syllabus which will later be adjusted according to student progress. I do not follow just one textbook; rather, I select materials from different sources. I am committed to improving student growth by meticulously correcting all the errors students make either in writing or orally. I also communicate my past experience in learning English as a foreign language, how I initially failed and then made use of the best techniques to improve my skills, scored high in TOEFL and earned a fellowship to study in the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US. Most often, my lessons will commence with a model which students will practice and later use the language acquired to apply to similar contexts and expand further. My two children got good training from me, gained scholarships and studied in US universities. My students also achieved success in English examinations with high scores in English tests.
