I have been evaluating students class work, assignments, preparation of classroom and coursework materials. I organize and initiate discussion on a challenging question about the topic being discussed, which requires the students to thoroughly read the text and theory available, followed by extensive discussion and arguments on the questions that they raise. To gain student's attention and warm them up, I prefer to start the lecture with a hook and relate it to the topic of discussion. I believe that learning and teaching are incomplete without the time-to-time evaluation of my students. In my class, different methods of practice and evaluation like group assignments, presentations, quizzes, etc. are employed, with bonus points based on their interaction and class participation. Evaluating the effectiveness of teaching by asking the students to solve problems in the middle of the class and asking students to summarize is my favorite way. Besides this, asking for students’ feedback through an anonymous survey also helps and lets me know if I am meeting their expectations as an instructor and how much they are learning and taking an interest.
