When it comes to teaching I like to ensure the students feel comfortable talking to me and expressing their concerns and where they feel they need to improve. Because of this, I do my best to remove any pressure from my lessons, and go at a pace the student feels best with. Each student learns differently and I find adapting to their needs is important. For example, if my student enjoyed football, I may use texts from football articles or books, so they can learn the techniques and methods but also enjoy what they are learning about. I also like to add a few fun games in my lessons and taking breaks is important for maintaining a good attention span. However, I still like to provide structure and a good lesson plan that will allow the student to achieve the necessary level they need to be at. I find that doing mini tests throughout the sessions allows the student’s confidence to build before an actual test. There will also be some assessments but these will be informal to reduce pressure and ensures the students can ask for help whenever they need it. My lessons will be presented through PowerPoints that will be shared with the student and any other lesson activities will be emailed over to complete. A PowerPoint presentation will be used for all topics and will be used to help with creative writing and homework. I am always open to suggestions from students to help improve their experience, and what they feel will work best for them.
