I have 2 years of classroom teaching experience and I have 2+ years of tutoring experience. I teach science remote using Zoom and I plan my own resources according to my student's preferred learning style such as visual.
I use a range of sources such as powerpoint, past examples papers/questions, YouTube, task sheets and many more. I aim my sessions to be more interactive and before moving on to another topic I ensure the student is confident on what they have learnt. I plan lessons according to topics that students inform me they need more support on.
I also differentiate according the the student's needs which may include SEN. As a mother to an autistic child, I understand the importance of differentiating tasks and teaching lessons according to the student's needs.
My lessons are student centred, I prefer to ask the student how they like to be taught as some students prefer teacher led teaching whereas, some students like learning using resources such as videos and independent tasks. I tend to use a lot of "I, We, You" strategy as this allows students to work independently as well as complete a task together with me. This is particularly useful when doing topics such as quantitative chemistry.
Tutor sessions are about the student's learning and I aim to offer the best support as possible.
