Students’ learning and progression is my ultimate priority. So, it is important for me to be aware of each student’s learning method preferences and overall academic goals. The first session is free of charge and during this session, myself and the student will discuss and build this initial foundation to assure all lessons afterwards will be planned and personalised in a way that meets the individual student’s demands. All my lessons will take place online via Teams or Zoom - whichever suits the student better. This online method will allow for interactivity between myself and the student via the ‘screen sharing’ function which enables me to give feedback and communicate while the student completes tasks. I offer both 1 and 2 hour lessons, £18 an hour.

My academic experience is as follows:
I have a highly competent knowledge of the English subject gained by my educational journey so far specialised in English. To specify, I gained a GCSE grade 7 in English Language, a GCSE grade 9 in English Literature and an A-Level grade A in English Language and Literature. Most recently, I achieved a First Class Honours award in the BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing degree at the University of Bolton. Next, I will be completing the MA Creative Writing with English Literary Studies postgraduate course at Lancaster University which commences in October 2023.

My teaching experience is as follows:
In February 2022 – April 2022, I completed teaching experience during my voluntary participation to the National Saturday Writing Club scheme. The sessions were designed for ages thirteen-sixteen years to gain creative writing knowledge and experience and were managed by English lecturers and PGCE students, covering literary forms such as fiction, poetry and drama. I shadowed the lecturers and PGCE students, observing their teaching methods as well as how they interacted with the students. I was also given the opportunity to devise and deliver my own writing activity to the group which developed my leadership skills and ability to instruct clearly.
Also, I completed a teaching experience placement in March 2022 – April 2022 at The Elton High School. While observing lessons, I gained knowledge of the various skills, duties and responsibilities associated with being a secondary Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four teacher of English as well as becoming more aware of the Secondary National Curriculum in England. I witnessed ways to manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and towards the end of my placement period, I devised and delivered my own lesson to a Key Stage 4 class on William Shakespeare’s, Macbeth.

Alongside studying, I strive to further develop my knowledge, experience and skills in the Education field by being a part-time tutor of the English subject and supporting students at any stage of their educational journey to help them reach and exceed their academic goals.
