I find it is important to keep students engaged while learning. Lessons focus on student interests while gradually building a solid foundation of knowledge and technique upon which to suceed at desired goals and advance further.
Generally beginning with a recap of previous lesson, then warm up exercises, a mix of scales, chords, arpeggios, depending on where we are at, both theoretical and practical application. Piece work is often the largest section as we will be working towards learning specific pieces that students select or pieces I select which showcase specific techniques as we are learning them.
End of session is improvisation followed by a quick review and home learning suggestions until for the next lesson
