I am able to tailor my teaching style to suit the needs and age of the student. For exam tuition I mainly focus on essentials such as grammar, tenses, reading, listening and conversation, in line with the specific exam board of the student. I also use past papers and go over answers and mark schemes. I can help with preparation for speaking exams and go over exam topics and the specific vocabulary that is relevant to these. The focus will be adjusted based on the requirements of the student, where they feel their weaknesses are and what we feel they need to work on most. Discussions tend to focus on relevant exam topics but also current events and popular culture to practice spontaneous speaking and broaden vocabulary beyond what is rehearsed at school. For younger students I can adapt my focus depending on what is required. I am able to go over their school curriculum to help them advance their studies and build their confidence so that they can progress at school, but could also focus on more wide-ranging subject matter and topics of interest that the student has. Equally, for French beginners or those not studying within an academic setting, I can work on conversation, grammar and vocabulary, to advance speaking capability. I have tutored small children before in a more dynamic way, through play and the use of board games, story books and pictures to build early vocabulary and instil a love of language learning through fun and engaging activities. I can cater my teaching style depending on the ability and needs of the student and the desired outcome of tuition.
