50+ years' experience in teaching French to all levels, Latin language to GCSE and English to any level.
I was a French examiner at all levels and I am very experienced at helping pupils to become bilingual.
Many former pupils have gone on to Eton, Winchester and Harrow.
I have translated five books on Maths. from French to English for Macmillan (Education).
I have a great interest in philology, relating French to Latin.
As a linguist, accuracy is very important to me and that is why I do not offer online lessons. If I am dealing with a complex topic, then I need my pupils to see as opposed to just hear what I say.
I have taught English to beginners for some 12 years. One of my recent pupils was awarded a 1st class degree in Chemistry from the Imperial College in the University of London and is now studying for a Ph.D. at Cambridge. Our first lesson was interesting to say the least when I asked whether he had any brothers os sisters and I received the answer, "No, sir, I am single". He was 11 years old at the time! He was fluent by the time he went on to Public School.
So confidence and accuracy are important elements, together with humour where possible, and likewise broadening of vocabulary and occasional word games.
I would be happy to answer any further questions.
