As a psychology tutor, my lessons are highly interactive, student-centered, and tailored to meet individual needs. Drawing from my experience in SEN, I am skilled in adapting my teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Typically, my lessons are structured to include a clear introduction to the topic, engaging activities, and an exam-style question at the end to consolidate understanding. Explaining how the content relates to the real-world and exam requirements helps to see the relevance of what you are learning.
My lessons incorporate a mix of theory and active discussions. I might use case studies or scenarios to explain psychological concepts, and then encourage students to analyse and apply these to their own experiences. My psychology degree allows me to present complex theories in a simplified way, making them easier to understand.
My time as a SEN Teaching Assistant has taught me patience, creativity and the importance of building confidence in young learners. I use tools like visual aids, interactive exercises and mnemonic devices to support memory and understanding. I also have experience helping students manage anxiety around learning, which I incorporate into my teaching to help them thrive.
I aim to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring psychological concepts!
I believe in setting clear, achievable goals with my students and regularly reviewing their progress. Whether they are preparing for exams, working on assignments, or simply exploring their interest in Psychology, I tailor my lessons to help them succeed.
