In all sessions I ask a student to write a short response about the topic we are covering, and then we assess, discuss and rewrite that answer together. This increases proficiency in writing, confidence, critical thinking, self-critique, argument, and verbal dexterity. It also has the added advantage of preparing them well for exams and other written tests.

This requires a first session where we discuss their current knowledge, their style of discussion, and their different enthusiasms, before we can begin.

These lessons are tailored to the current syllabus and the current content of their in-school classes, which will also be covered in the first session. Prior to the first session, I would require the exam board that the school are using, and the texts selected by the school, so we can work around it.

I have found this to be an excellent model for teaching English literature and language, and it provides students with a framework by which to revise any topic, beyond rote memorisation.

I'll provide engaging, fun, and informative sessions and materials to improve your writing level and make you passionate about the subject and the culture that surrounds it. Don't worry, even if you're struggling, we'll take things slow, and through practical and fun examples, you'll be getting to grips with it in no time!
