I pride myself of having the flexibility required by language learners in adopting a variety of approaches, and adapting to the individual needs of the student. For example, if I assess that the student has a strong theoretical background of grammar and syntax but lacks conversational fluency, I will invest more strongly in these aspect; if they are deficient in their listening understanding, I will provide more material to address this issue. I also have a life-long interest in linguistics, the history of language development and etymologies, and I am often able to highlight connections in words that have a common origin with the student’s native language.

I have years of experience of tutoring, as well as a life-long experience of self-teaching languages such as French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese (???)and British Sign Language, all of which I am at the intermediate level. I have years of professional experience, therefore capable of polishing professional English, such as that employed in professional and/or corporate contexts, as well as three degrees in scientific subjects for any student wishing to enhance their scientific terminology. Generally, I am considered a respectable and very friendly person, emotionally sensitive, which I believe are skills which can be useful in a paedagogic environment.

I would be happy to help university students understand the English content of their discipline and help them achieve the required level of English for productive exams such as presentations and essays. I can provide tailored feedback on any written endeavor.

I am happy to impart lessons online or in person, according to the availability of the student, and I am also open to discuss changes in the hourly rate depending on the individual’s financial availability.
