Using the lessons I have learned as a aspiring medic, we can help you strive to becoming the best version of yourself: Whether that be in exam technique, factual recall or gaining a deeper understanding of the topic. My job is to help you ace your exams, but I also want you to come out of each lesson feeling enlightened, confident and apprehensive to our next lesson.
I will set small assignments following lessons in order to keep the new information fresh and ready to use. I make sure my students understand that this is a collaborative experience: I am just as much your teacher as your partner. We will be able to work together to tackle gaps in your knowledge and bring you confidence to develop your understanding.
Key elements to acing your exam, I believe, are:
1. Aiming to loose no marks on factual recall - making questions asking for things like definitions easy marks that you can bank straight away
2. Timing - you want to leave as much time as possible at the end of the exam to go back over your work, leaving no page unturned. To improve your skills at this, I may, often ask us to go through a past paper under timed conditions.
3. Understanding of what the examiner is asking of you - picking out key words in a question like 'describe', 'explain', 'suggest'. Being able to give the examiner exactly what they're looking for. Making their lives easy
As stressful as exams can be, its important not to overthink things and spiral. I want to assure the calm and tranquil environment in which your brain works best.
