I have more than six years experience teaching geography and four as head of a geography department. I like to shape my teaching approach to the students preferences but tend to use lots of visuals and model answers. I will question you to get you to expand on your answers so that you can learn how to get the most marks. I like to use a lot of drawings and diagrams to help explain tricky concepts and to encourage you to link new knowledge to what you already know.
I have access to a wide range of resources including past papers and model answers to help you familiarise yourself with what is expected of you in an examination. I will also help you develop strategies for breaking down the questions by focussing on command words and key words so that you understand what the question is asking of you. I can also provide feedback on practice questions.
I am happy for you to tell me what areas you would like to focus on, be this a specific topic or exam skill. I have taught students with a wide range of target grades and also have experience teaching English as an additional language and adapting my teaching for students with SEN. My teaching experience means I have also learnt common misconceptions or mistakes that students make that you can avoid to improve your grade!
Please get in contact and let me know how I can support you to succeed in geography.
