Becoming a primary teacher has been a goal that has shaped my academic and personal journey from a young age. I have, therefore, over the years taken many opportunities to ensure I am prepared and experienced for the role.
As part of my course, I have undertaken four successful school experience placements in various primary schools across Glasgow and North Lanarkshire. I have also volunteered in primary schools to gain further experience outwith my course remit. My extensive experience in schools, working with children aged 4-11 from diverse backgrounds, has given me invaluable knowledge and understanding in planning and delivering lessons that cater to the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of all students.
In 2024 I gained my honours degree in Primary education at the University in Glasgow. This degree has equipped me with a broad range of skills and experiences essential for effective teaching, such as pedagogical knowledge, knowledge and understanding of child development, assessment and evaluation, and reflective practice.
My teaching approach focuses on creating fun and engaging lessons tailored to each student's individual pace. I prioritise a positive, encouraging, and kind atmosphere, ensuring that learners never feel pressured. By incorporating students' interests into the learning process, I make the material more relatable and enjoyable, helping them stay motivated and eager to learn.
