A typical lesson with me would start with a few minutes of warming up and chatting about something in the news, an anecdote or discussing the previous lesson's homework.

The lessons vary depending on your objectives but let's take a general English lesson as an example. I would aim to cover each of the 4 skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). As a practitioner of the communicative method, I always make sure that there is plenty of speaking practice.

I often use worksheets (on screen or handouts) so that you have the opportunity to make notes and take something away at the end of the lesson. New vocabulary and/ or grammar would be covered in the first part of the lesson, with various exercises to gain a solid understanding of its usage in context. We would also practice the pronunciation. The second part of the lesson would provide opportunities to try it out in the spoken or written form.
