I will make my own notes and lessons based on individual needs and tailor to how each individual responds, and to which exam board their school is using. I will use interactive methods in order to engage the student, and help relate to them by using language and methods that are particular to them. I currently assist students at GCSE level through their homework and examination period. Mainly, this involves students communicating to me what they're struggling with and what areas they require help in. This provides them with the ability to tailor their education depending on their needs and provide them with the utmost confidence. I will provide model answers depending on the level of the student, and provide piece meal, incremental instructions and steps in how they may improve and reach the next grade boundary. My methods have proven to be successful where previous students whom I tutored around their examination period achieved a leap in two grades. This allowed these particular students to continue with English through to A-Level study. They responded best to set lesson plans on specificc areas- whether that be literary tools or an in depth exploration of specific books/ poems. I am happy to provide comprehensive resources for either of these. Rather then having a defeatist attitude toward grades, I encourage an environment where any progress is to be celebrated- whether substantial or not and will ensure that spirits are high so that no defeatism may creep in and cause lower grades overall.
