I have been a Maths teacher for 30 years and have an evidenced track record in significantly improving students’ GCSE and A Level Maths grade. I have taught Maths to the full age range from KS3 to KS5. All my lessons have been consistently judged as outstanding. I was Head of Maths for 10 years and then Assistant Head for 8 years. My success in these roles led me to become a Specialist Leader in Education. I worked across several school in Kirklees one day a week, successfully supporting them in raising standards in Maths. I now tutor Maths privately and plan and deliver sessions on the effective teaching of Maths to Initial Teacher Trainee students part-time at the University of Huddersfield.

I am extremely passionate about raising standards in Maths and working with young people to improve their life opportunities. I strongly believe in a calm, positive and confidence building approach. One to one tuition enables you to tailor your teaching to the individuals particular needs. They need thinking time and the appropriate pace for them. It's also important to explore how they have reached their answer whether correct or not, as many incorrect answers are built on a logical thought process.
