I've taught EFL in language schools in Hungary, Qatar and the UK and have taught learners from most parts of the world. I've taught EFL in language schools in Hungary, Qatar and the UK and have taught learners from most parts of the world. I believe that anybody can learn a language if they find the best way for them to learn. I can offer a variety of teaching styles and am very good at adapting lessons to suit the learner.

Speaking - I tend to use general conversation around a topic you enjoy to personalise the lesson to you. We will do tasks that focus both on your accuracy when speaking (correct grammar, vocab and prounciation) and also on your fluency (how quickly you can speak). We can focus on speaking about general topics and also role playing specific situations if you need help with anything in particular. I enjoy working on pronunciation and am happy to teach both British and American pronunciation. My natural accent is Canadian.

Writing - We will focus on writing that is useful to you. Do you need to be able to write emails in English to colleagues? To fill out applications in English? To pass an exam? To fill out a profile on a social media site? We can work on the type of writing that will be most beneficial to you.

Reading - Do you need to read specific types of texts for your job or study? I enjoy using both shorter and longer texts and will often write about myself and my own experience to share this with you. I like you to be able to identify with the texts that we read so we will never just do comprehension questions - you could do those on your own! Instead, we'll focus on the true meaning of texts, picking out useful phrases and relating the content of the text to your own experience.

Listening - This can be a challenging skill. I love using songs for listening practice and using clips from film and tv. Whatever we use, it will be something that is appropriate to your learning goals.

Vocabulary - This is not something that should be taught in isolation. We will look at vocabulary in context - either as part of a wider lesson topic or within a listening or reading text. Vocabulary needs lots of repetition to be learnt, and so I aim to repeat essential vocabulary to you many times throughout our lessons.

Grammar - I can deliver clear grammar lessons with real life examples of usage, if grammar is something you wish to focus on. At higher levels of study (Upper Int / Advanced) it is sometimes necessary to point out certain grammatical features. However, if you are at a much lower level then it can sometimes be more beneficial to learn the grammar through repeated exposure.

Whatever you are looking for, I’m confident that I can help you improve.
