I have experience working with GCSE students at a variety of different levels. I start by going through key theories or themes primarily, to ensure the understanding of the material is there. I go through worked examples of varying difficulty so that students can ask questions and settle into the lesson before being asked to work alone. After the examples, I use exam style questions for the student to talk me through their working or thought processes. This allows for a deeper understanding of their work and allows any misconceptions or problems to be discovered so we can pinpoint areas to work on. Then I ask students to go through a few questions on their own and then we mark them at the end together, using real mark schemes as much as possible so that students know how to maximise their marks in their exams.
