About me

Hi there, I'm Hassan.

I have 2 years tutoring experience in English Language at GCSE level, starting in June 2022. I currently tutor for a private tuition company in person and I have multiple students preparing to sit their GCSEs in the next 18 months. I am flexible with timing and always talk to parents to inform them of their child's progress- something I regularly do with my current students...
Hi there, I'm Hassan.

I have 2 years tutoring experience in English Language at GCSE level, starting in June 2022. I currently tutor for a private tuition company in person and I have multiple students preparing to sit their GCSEs in the next 18 months. I am flexible with timing and always talk to parents to inform them of their child's progress- something I regularly do with my current students.

My focus lies on improving: SPAG, the analysis of extracts and poems, answering comprehension questions and extended writing (for example: descriptive pieces of writing, narrative writing and writing articles).

I like to create individual plans for my students, tailored to their needs. For example, some students require more work on sentence structure and analysis, while others require more work on embedding quotations and exploring writers' methods. This is why I am switching to online 1-to-1 lessons, as I can maximise the work we do, without having to simultaneously attend to other pupils.

In the hour session, I give students pieces of comprehension and teach them how to plan and annotate extracts/poems effectively. I also teach how to identify and implement writers' methods, language techniques and writers' intentions into answers. To reinforce their knowledge and to test what we have been doing in class, I set homework tasks involving writing articles/stories/descrptive pieces, answering comprehension questions and testing SPAG, which I then mark and give feedback to students and parents. Finally, I strongly advocate reading to students- a vital and often overlooked part of becoming better at English.

My current students have progressed massively, with all of them starting at grade 4/5s in September 2023, to now achieving grades 6/7 in their recent mock examinations - an increase in 2 grades in just under 9 months. I myself got a grade 7 in English Language at GCSE in 2022. Meanwhile, my A-Levels have just ended, and throughout years 12 and 13, I have been top of my class, hitting A*s and As consistently. I aim to do an English degree at the University of Birmingham this September.

To conclude, I am reliable, very hard-working, and I will do my very best to help your child to achieve their maximum potential.

Thank you
