With over 200 hours of lessons tutored in computer science I have managed to create a successful lesson template for optimal efficiency in lessons. The lessons will start with a question on a random topic (even if it hasn't been covered yet). Then there will be a question on the previous lessons content. The point of these questions is to keep the mind fresh and up to date on the range of different topics the specification has and over time the student will see that questions they may not have been able to answer before are now easy to write without thinking about it too much. After this I will teach the content for the current lesson using and interactive whiteboard where myself and the student can draw and annotate diagrams and write text/notes. Frequently I will give time for the student to make their own notes from what has been written on the board. I try to keep my lesson a flowing conversation and achieve this by asking questions frequently and having discussions about the topic on what the student currently knows and doesn't know. Towards the end of the lesson if we finished the topic I would ask some past paper questions and go through the answers. I aim to complete 1 topic per lesson (1 hour lesson) however the bigger topics can take up to 3 lessons.
