My approach towards teaching is to engage the student as much as possible. The lesson will always start with 10 minutes going over the relevant material for learning, followed by an example worked through together, ensuring the student fully understands the concepts introduced. Then, I'll set some practice questions, which the student will work through by themselves (around 4 or 5 easier examples). After this we will speak through their answers, getting them to explain their reasoning and the process of how they got to their answers. The final part of the session will move onto more complex examples of the same topic. As always, questions are very much welcomed and an open dialogue between me and the student is very much encouraged. I don't like to be militant or force students to work to unattainable standards. In my experience of my own learning, I have always developed the best understanding for topics when I have 1) been actively engaged with the teacher and 2) enjoyed the teaching I received. These are the key values I wish to uphold and create in my sessions.
