I have a grade 8 in gcse mathematics and I love numbers since I was little. I mainly focus on firstly going through the lessons they have learned so far this year and let them identify where they see the problem the most. If they are unable to then I approach using past papers trying to identify which areas the student is struggling and where I am able to help them. Once those areas have been identified I will teach the topics step by step making sure there is a high level of understanding and that they are able to retain the knowledge in the way that suits them best. I try to make my lessons as fun as possible as I myself engage better when it’s not just a person talking at me for an entire hour.
I am fairly new to turning but I have done tutoring in school for a while as voluntary work and I was seen to be an outstanding student in this space. I am down to earth and try to help students learn the math in the way that they can actually understand it instead of the way it is designed to be understood. As being a student myself I try to stick as close as possible to the topics they are currently learning and sticking more to the revision side than teaching a new subject as to make it easier for them to feel confident in class and in their tests as a whole.
