Learning piano at the start, requires basically three core ideas.
1. Understanding rhythm
2. The distance method of note reading
3. The rhyme method of note reading
Once these fundementals are established, we can then work on the next level - expression.
For students that are past the beginnings of learning piano, the education becomes quite rounded with musical theory and ear training.
The eventual goal for all students is to be able to play music unaided, without a teacher present. Students will learn how to understand and interpret music, so they can play independently.
Some students may want help working on GCSE or A - level music (both of which I have experience teaching). Or, they might want to look into Jazz or Rock music. All lessons take into account the aims and interests of the students, and are built around achieving those goals.
Piano lessons can be an incredible confidence booster, and students are encouraged to perform regularly. The result of this is confident players, able to achieve their potential in music exams, academic exams, or music scholarships.
Lastly, I also have experience with students with additional needs, especially working with ADHD and Autistic children.
I'm currently filling my final slots the term, so please do reach out with any questions.
