I am a well motivated and well read history undergraduate student at the University of Salford studying Military History, on track for a first. I passed my GCSE's with an 8 in ancient history and a 7 in history. As of the past year I have had experience in assisting teachers in secondary school volunteering for free for the benefit of students.

As a tutor, I will offer 1 hour lessons providing help where it is most needed for students, whether that be in terms of general knowledge, understanding or writing answers to questions. At the end if each session I will ask the student what they may need, and provide resources accordingly. For example, in the case of general knowledge I will provide a link to useful documentaries or send pdfs containing primary source material.
The first lesson will be the most important, as I will ask the student basic questions about what it is they are struggling with, producing a plan tailored to their needs. It is crucial that I am provided information such as the exam board a student is sitting and what it is that may be hindering them from getting higher grades.
Outside of lesson hours I will look for materials that could be used in further lessons and ask the student what it is they want to cover in the subsequent lesson should they not have had an idea at the end of their last lesson. I encourage students to ask me what they need as soon as possible, as they know what it is they are struggling with, and to best prepare for the lesson it is important to know this sooner rather than later.
