Hi,
My name is Harry Bolt, & im a professional Musican in my late 20s,
specifically I am Jazz Pianist.
Music has been & always will be my life’s passion, I gravitated to the piano at age 3, & once it grabbed me, it never let go.
Studying at Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of music in Greenwhich for six years initially, then onto my intermediate years for a diploma in jazz piano, & moving onto advanced years Graduating with a Bmus(Hons) Degree in Jazz Piano.
Music in general / Piano & especially now JAZZ has been a huge part of my life,
if you don't know much about jazz that is no problem, just know it is the most influential genre of all time & has a hand in virtually every other genre guaranteed,
so if you like music, then you like jazz
(in one form or another).
I play regularly around London/UK & continue to play at the prestigious Ronnie Scotts Jazz club, 606 Jazz club, the famous Pizza Express Jazz club Soho, the Vortex Jazz club and many more including Jazz Festivals. Please see my website for my next dates.
I have had much experience teaching from my very early younger years to more recent years, teaching to me is a joy purely as my main focus is to pass the passion I feel for the music onto the student. My lessons would be somewhat a little different than most standard piano lessons as i aim to show the student a number possibilities the piano has to offer and to help the student discover the MANY angles / Approaches in which to play, to play in general and to play jazz,
myself personally I play more intuitively.
As a professional jazz improvisation is what I do for a living.
I studied classical originally for years and did all my grades 1-8 however this to me did not forfill my full potential and my full passion for the instrument, and felt that there was something lacking in that side of the music, & there was only so far one would be able to go with classical, and in that slightly more generic means of piano tuition.
So I like to focus on more of an intuitive more expressive side to the instrument learning by ear, chordal approach, learning to read chord charts jazz/pop/rock musicians would use, touching on improvisational techniques and methods so that my student CAN in his/her own time continue to explore the piano,
& in a way carry on composing, listening, transcribing and in turn, always continue to learn! Instead of just learning IN the lessons.
Many lessons nowadays are somewhat black-and-white - preset & the same for every student,
+ only reading whats on the music pages & playing it AS IS.
In my opinion that can only get you so far in the fact that once that piece of music is over, it's over,
when the music should carry on with the student even after the lesson either consciously or at least subconsciously.
Students of course differ from one another & are unique and should not be held back from their own personal interests/passion & potential in the music as I once was...
however I decided when I was 18 that classical & that approach wasn’t for me and the music was never to be ‘over’ after the lesson,
every chance I had , I always wanted to explore, compose, improvise & self teach via trial & error etc every day, listening to my favourite artists pop, funk, rock & so on and of course jazz, traditional, Modern & contemporary, which has influenced me to the player I am today, through trying to transcribe my favourite artists and replicate the fire & passion they have for the music that I hear in their playing.
if you are a beginner,
intermediate or an advanced player,
from ANY age (7yo minimum).
there is always room to grow and I'm happy to share my knowledge advice tips and tricks for you to become a better player, from basic exercises, or learning your favourite pieces - to advanced methods of playing, I'll teach you also how to compose; and very importantly to improvise, & play a piece of music from ear,
jazz harmony, jazz cords with Many devices to help develop your memory skills as well.
Perfect also for a player that is very Academic wishing to branch out and widen your overall knowledge of the piano + to expand your Your abilities and capabilities.
also VERY much for the student that is somewhat NOT so academic,
this would be perfect for you to explore your hidden strengths via more unconventional means,
the best teachers I ever had were simply because,
whatever the student needed in that hour lesson, it being hard-core playing, exercises, teaching about the business, just listening to the student express themselves,
or simply just.... talking!
The teacher gave me that what I needed most in that hour, which was naturally different every time, So I always walked out wanting more and feeling inspired and content in myself that I would want to pursue it further for my teacher but most importantly for myself.
That is the most important thing and I hope to do the same for you. All ages are welcome, I have taught Almost every age 7-74!
and I highly recommend for further inspiration seeing LIVE MUSIC!
So of course you're all welcome to one of my upcoming concert/gigs to see where the path of music could lead you :D

After Covid this is still working remarkably well, however I am very much an in person type of teacher and would love to work with you one-on-one hands-on, but the situation being what it is it seems impossible.
However I think if you would do a trial online session with me you will realise what a great potential we can have together and we can this difficult time better for both of us! Since Lockdown, I have started with 5 new students after their reduced fee paid trial & all wanted to continue.
Also on a side note, I am teaching some 7-14 year olds so if you wish your kids to have an hour of productive fun while you get some time off / alone time, I am here for you and understand!
Contact me & let’s see what we can do!
My fee will vary but £25 for half an hour or £50 for an hour plus travel expenses would be appreciated,
HOWEVER price can VARY to student to student based on location of lesson etc (some students I charge £40 if they are financially not as stable or want to pay per month)
So please do get in contact and I’m sure we can work it out.
If you wish to have weekly or lessons every two weeks my rate will decrease for you specifically :)
