I have run creative writing workshops at Universities in the UK and the US as well as privately with a focus on collaborative and experimental writing. In teaching creative writing my priorities are instilling confidence, expanding students conception of what writing or 'good' writing looks like, and equipping them with a tool kit to begin writing and think critically about what they are doing when they do write!
I tailor tutoring closely to the needs of the student with a detailed consultation meeting before we begin working together. I believe good teaching means being attentive to, and nurturing, the strengths of the individual, and I am passionate about catering to different learning styles.
I know that preparing for GCSE's and A-Levels can be an extremely stressful and anxiety inducing time, and for many can take the joy out of what should be an extremely exciting subject. I am committed to nurturing that excitement and building confidence in young writers and readers - be that in an academic or creative context - and excited to share my passion for English literature with young people.
