I like to use a google doc that both of us can edit as well as a powerpoint with information on the slides to guide you through the sessions. I begin my lesson with a small recap of what we have been focusing on and then move into any theory, questions or information that are important to understand and study. I have just under a month of tutoring experience and have been really enjoying it. I pride myself in being a kind, enthusiastic and friendly person who understands that for some tutoring can be a daunting experience, so there is never any pressure to answer questions you are unsure about! I make an effort to make all my sessions fun and engaging so the student comes to the session looking forward to learning.
I want to make sure that the student is comfortable, happy and leaves the session feeling confident in themselves and the topic of the session. As I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Warwick, I am a student myself who understands the pressures of lesson work and revision, I want to work with students to ensure they know how to manage their time in terms of revision or homework so they are confident and relaxed in their approach to the subject and any work that comes with it. I achieved a grade A in Sociology A-Level and finished my first year of university on a first so am a competent and dedicated student to my own studies.
