I like to ask students how they like to learn and what they like to learn about before I form any lesson structure - every student learns in different ways and I like to tailor my tutor sessions to each student. Whether that is practice exam questions, or learning around the subject in order to solidify foundations, I believe everyone can enjoy learning, and if they enjoy it, the material will stick!
Exam prep can be very tricky, and sometimes re-reading the material can just cause frustration and confusion. I find that working with each student to find out what they love about science and why they enjoy the things that they do is the foundation for a fun and pervasive learning experience. If you can learn to love what you’re learning, you can find the best method that works for you to retain the information that doesn’t immediately present itself as being interesting or sticking in your mind!
The foundations are important, and as someone who found those difficult at first, I have quite a few tricks to keep those formulas and fundamentals locked down! From there, we can work our way to leaning in to those areas that are fascinating, and working out how to get those tricker subjects to stick so they can be called upon in the exam without stress.

Every student is different! Whatever will work the best for you, we will find it. There are no bad students, everyone has the capacity to learn!
