I tend to initially discuss with students a summary of their syllabus/learning objectives initially. Through doing this we can formulate a plan and break this down into smaller goals which we will aim to achieve together with a timeline in mind. We can highlight areas of weakness which may require extra work and areas in which the student may be more proficient.

I like to use real life examples to contextualise the content we study. By doing this we try to implement the knowledge so it becomes embedded and understood rather than rote learning for exam specifics.
We can approach questions, mark schemes etc if the student so wishes also.
I’m happy to discuss study plans together also and areas that may need extra work outside of our tutored sessions. Sometimes quizzes and questions relating to content already covered in previous lessons can be utilised. Again this is to implement various repetitive spacing techniques for memorisation and internalisation of knowledge.
Often I like to use video content to our advantage. If you are a visual learned we can go through content and explain areas in further detail where it may be lacking. Videos are useful tools and widely available so in my opinion should be made the most of.
Feel free to ask questions and challenge me as well, if I don’t know I will certainly endeavour to find out! Finally, No one should ever feel any question is too silly or foolish to ask so please don’t hold back
