I will hold online or in-person interactive lessons where I will not only regurgitate content, but I will also test their application whilst teaching them strategies that would be useful in exams to optimise this performance. During lessons I will slowly let them work out the content whilst guiding the students so that they can have a deep understanding of what they need to know. I will also be very flexible and will let the students dictate the topic of each lesson if that is what they wish for. The development of exam technique is especially important in GCSE and A-level exams where timing is the main pressure applied on students, so these techniques will help to maximise the time available to the students. I believe that the key to success in Biology is understanding the content required as per the syllabus as opposed to rote-learning information. Many Biology and Chemistry questions require you to apply knowledge to an unfamiliar context, and it is easier to do that with content that is understood fully as opposed to simply memorised. As a winner of the gold award in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad, I will also be able to go beyond the specification at certain instances and provide extra information that others will not be able to. Having achieved a 9 for GCSE Biology and Chemistry and being predicted to achieve an A* in A level biology and Chemistry I am very well qualified to teach the course to others in a way which will maximise the grades they achieve on tests.
