I like to convey my lessons through conversations, I feel that some teachers or tutors like to talk at you, rather than with you. The whole process of learning becomes much easier when you’re fully engaged in a discussion.
Myself in particular, the interactions between tutor and student can be translated into how a student feels about the topic. Which is why I want all of you to take the floor once in a while, and tell me your opinion or any questions you have. Uncovered ground leads to a misunderstanding of the subject.
Every teacher has rules so here are mine:
1) Do not be afraid to ask questions
2) Tell me if you do not understand something
3) Feel free to correct me if you think I’m wrong
4) You have to want to learn
5) Be interested!
For every student I have, I hope to build a working relationship with so that they feel valued and appreciated in my class. School is already stressful enough, the last thing I want is for student to feel as if my class is an extension of school… it is not. It is an opportunity for extending their learning and development.
There is no part of me that wants you to feel as if my classes aren’t productive or they feel mundane. Tell me! I have always wanted to have my classes tailored to the students because that’s who it’s for, it’s not for me. So if there is anything you feel that you would want me to try, then I would be more than happy to help, whether you’re a visual learner or a practical learner.
I hope to see you in class soon.
