Harland Rivas Cooper

My professional background is in primary school teaching, but I have also taught in secondary school for tropical forestry baccalaureate (equivalent to A-level) and tropical forestry engineer. In the midst of this, I have also worked as a tourist guide for two years in Honduras, Central America.
I have lived and worked professionally in various Latin American countries, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Peru. This has given me ample historical and cultural perspectives and certainly no country is equal, the diversity and richness in food, traditions, culture and people are always there.
I teach Spanish, Chemistry, and Physics in secondary schools in and around Leeds, UK. For the tutoring of students, I would provide a tailored lesson according to the needs of the individual student. This means agreeing with students and parents before starting the online lessons via Teams. My style of teaching will include modern and current vocabulary used in everyday situations predominantly in Latin America but also in Spain. I strive to build students' confidence in greeting and asking for basic shopping, restaurant venues, and communication while travelling abroad. As an experienced traveller myself, I believe these types of communication widen our view of the world and truly bring home cultural enrichment.
