During my lessons I provide information for students through powerpoint presentations, ensuring they are interactive throughout. One way I do this is by including quizzes and games during my lessons to test students knowledge whilst keeping the lesson fun. In my personal opinion, having lots of information thrown at students is not a useful method of teaching, however making sure pupils are involved and constantly testing themselves on the knowledge they have learnt through quizzes and games is a much more effective way to retain information! I also start my lessons with a small warm up, usually consisting of a few practice questions from the previous lessons content to make sure everything we have learnt is fresh in the students mind and now in their long term memory ready for exams! The key to learning for students is repetition, the more you repeat the more this information will become embedded in your long term memory. Therefore, i believe the best teaching method is to include lots of practice questions and revision of previous tutoring sessions. This way, students are able to continuously review the topics they have learnt, but this is also a more fun and interactive way of learning. I tend to focus on one topic per week so we have enough time to review all of the content, however if students are struggling with a particular topic i am more than happy to go over it again or to spend a bit of extra time focusing on this.
